Below is my list of herbs & Recipes for hangover, First of all what is hangover, then what causes hangover? Simple when you drink alcohol, your liver metabolizes it, creating toxins that circulate through your body, causing nausea and headache. The kidney helps filter out these toxins, but it uses water in the process, leaving you dehydrated.

Before imbibing, eat a meal rich in protein and carbohydrates and drink plenty of water.

Finally, watch your alcohol intake and drink water during the evening. If you’re still woozy the next morning, drink water; eat foods packed with zinc as well as vitamins B, C, and A; and try soothing herbal remedies. Most of the herbs below also boost liver function and digestion.

Burdock • Chamomile • Dandelion • Fennel • Ginkgo • Hops • Licorice • Marshmallow • Milk thistle • Red clover • Turmeric

MILK THISTLE SMOOTHIE

Easy on the stomach, this smoothie delivers antioxidant and liver-protecting milk thistle and brings a boost of vitamin B12 through almond milk and yogurt. The fruits add vitamins C and A.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED: 1 large frozen banana ½ cup fresh or frozen blueberries ½ cup almond milk ½ cup plain Greek yogurt 1 teaspoon milk thistle powder

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

1. Blend the banana, blueberries, milk, and yogurt in a blender.
2. Add the milk thistle and blend once more.
ALTERNATIVE: Add any combination of vitamin-C-packed fresh or frozen fruits, including strawberries and kiwi.

LIVER-PROTECTING TEA (Decoction)

Licorice is great because of its liver-protecting properties. Here it is combined with other liver protectants.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED: 1 teaspoon burdock root 1 teaspoon dandelion root 1 teaspoon stinging nettle aerials ½ teaspoon licorice root 4 cups water
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
1. In a pan, mix the burdock, dandelion, nettle, and licorice. Pour the water over them.
2. Bring the water to a boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer for 30 minutes.
3. Strain out the herbs and drink 1 cup. Later, reheat the remaining 1 cup and drink.
ALTERNATIVE: Biologists recommends combining 1 teaspoon licorice with 1 teaspoon milk thistle in 2 cups of water for a tea decoction.
OTHER: Fructose-rich and zinc rich foods may increase the metabolism of alcohol. Eat a bowl of naturally sweet fruit, or drizzle honey over zinc-rich whole grain toast or rice.
